April 15, 2023: Tsum Monastery Preservation Work Update

Today in Tsum Monastery two of our conservation team worked on their reports, and two engaged in hands-on with community members.

Reports are being written following the site visit yesterday on conservation of historic paintings in a neighbouring village:

And on plans for the proposed new Tsum Museum where two sites are being considered on Tsum Monastery grounds; more to come on this!

On-site work within Tsum Monastery today was assessment of conditions in Tsum Library regarding cabinetry, room use, lighting, temperature and relative humidity etc:

Hands-on with Cham dance costumes for safer storage and doing some ironing and minor mending:

The weather here was very harsh, cold and windy, but a good time was had by all.
Stay tuned for more updates from the High Himalayas and please send yours!
